Weather & Excursions

Learning happens both inside and outside the classroom.  Spending time in nature is a core component of our curriculum.  Our staff arranges excursions based on many factors such as the current area of interest or study, availability of experts and facilities, and weather.

Many of these factors develop and change over time so excursions are planned on a short term basis to be responsive to these changes.  And of course, weather can be the biggest variable!

We plan to spend time outside every day, unless conditions are deemed dangerous, such as the presence of lightning, extreme wind, and extreme temperatures.  In the case of cold temperatures, learners may still go outside but time will be limited.  As the winter of 2020 approaches with forecasts of colder-than-normal temperatures, specific guidelines will be developed.

Learners should always plan for the weather and anticipate being outside.  Proper gear is essential to take full advantage of our outdoor programming.

Families may choose to leave items at school for use on a daily basis such as boots, snow pants, inside shoes (slippers), etc.

Sometimes an excursion will need to change.  If our staff arrive at a public nature area that is overly busy, for example (meaning our learners will not be able to social distance with others) it may be necessary to alter plans and activities on-the-fly.  Most often, this would mean moving to a nearby location or visiting our beloved Muddy Creek.  A message will be sent through ProCare to alert parents of the change.  Changes that are made prior to excursion departures will be updated on this website and communicated to parents.

Learning & Curriculum

Tamarack seeks a diverse staff who bring different expertise, passions, strengths, and ideas to our school.

Tuition & Fees

Full-time tuition is a yearly rate of $8482.00 that is paid over 10 months or 12 months.  Statements are sent out on the 1st of the month and due on the 15th of the current enrollment month. Discontinuation of programming requires a 30 day notice, and up-to-date status on tuition.

COVID Procedures & Protocols

We follow CDC guidelines for COVID related procedures and decisions, updating as necessary to stay current on the most up-to-date practices.

Masks will be worn by all students and staff, guest instructors, visitors, volunteers, etc whenever we are inside.  Shields will also be required in addition to masks when social distancing is not possible, like on the bus.  Students and staff will maintain a distance of 6 feet in all environments, to the best of their ability to do so.

If a student does not feel well, exhibits symptoms related to COVID, or has been exposed to a COVID positive person, it is necessary to stay home from school and let staff know immediately.

  • If a student or staff tests positive and has been at school during the contagious period, all classmates and teachers of that class will quarantine for 14 days, beginning the day the last exposure occurred.

  • A person is considered to be contagious 48 hours before symptoms begin and at least 10 days after symptoms begin.

  • A person who has tested positive and has had symptoms may return to class

    • After 10 days since symptoms appeared

    • AND 48 hours fever-free without use of fever-reducing medication

    • AND 48 hours after symptoms cease.

  • If there has been no cross-contact between classrooms, it is not necessary for both classrooms and staff to quarantine.

  • If a family member or close contact of a student or staff tests positive, that student or staff must quarantine until 10 days after the affected party’s symptoms subside. A note from a doctor will be required before returning to school.

  • When a classroom is under quarantine, educational materials will be provided for remote learning.

  • Tuition is still required during quarantine, as long as the school is still in operation. In the event all schools must close and Tamarack is no longer allowed to remain open, tuition fees will be waived.

  • All Tamarack students, families, and staff will promptly communicate any Covid-related symptoms, exposures, or positive cases to the Tamarack directors.
